Ambie Edgar-Chana was recently quoted in MoneySense magazine’s Summer 2014 issue in the “Ask MoneySense” section.

The Ask MoneySense question related to whether an acting Power of Attorney for Property can claim compensation. In Ontario, a Power of Attorney can claim 3% of the monies received and disbursed and a management fee of 0.6% of the average annual value of the managed assets. Ambie cautioned readers that when compensated you “will be held to the benchmark of an expert in managing the grantor’s financial affairs, and if you fall short you can be held financially liable, personally”.
